Educational Background:
I graduated from Illinois State University in 2009 with my Bachelors in Middle Level Education in the fields of Science and Social Studies.
I am currently obtaining my 2nd Masters Degree at Concordia University in the field of Teacher Leadership. My 1st Masters was in the field of Differentiation.
Teaching Background:
Before graduating from ISU, I completed my student-teaching here at Nathan Hale Middle School. Once I completed that, I was approached by NHM staff members to do a maternity leave till the end of the 2009-2010 school year.
I briefly left NHM to do a year-long maternity leave in the Frankfort School Districts for the 2010-2011 school year and it was a wonderful experience, but I missed my NHM family.
Thankfully, for the 2011-2012 school year, there was a science teacher position opening up and I knew I had to apply! They must have liked me from the year I was there because they asked me to be the new 6th grade Science Teacher!
Right now, I am going into my 5th year teaching here at Nathan Hale Middle School and I have loved every minute of it! Being at NHM, I feel it is very important to take part in many opportunities to help improve the school and build positive relationships with the students. Therefore I take part in the following clubs/groups:
v Team Leader for the 6th Grade
v Lead Science Teacher at NHM
v Student Government Co-Leader
v Mentor Program for Students and New Teachers
More About Me.....
When I am not teaching, I am an avid sports fanatic and I only cheer for the White Sox, Bears, Bulls and my favorite, Blackhawks. The "C word" (Cubs) is not allowed in my household! I also enjoy fishing, reading, hanging out with friends and family, and being a wife and mom.
I am married to my husband, Bryan for over four years and we have a beautiful son named, Jack. He just turned 3 this past July and he is amazing! Our daughter Emma was born in February of this year, and we are over the moon! We also have another son, but he has four legs, a yellow lab and his name is Walter.
